TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) -- A 24-year-old woman is dead and a 27-year-old Fall River man is injured after deadly crash on Route 44 in Taunton early Sunday morning. The Bristol County District Attorney's office said the woman, Mallory Humphreys of Taunton, was a passenger in a car that hit the back of a tractor trailer truck around 1:24 a.m. The man driving the car was eastbound on Route 44 at 608 Winthrop Street when he hit the tractor trailer, who was also traveling eastbound, according to the DA's office. Humphreys was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for not life-threatening injuries, and the tractor trailer's driver, a 39-year-old Brockton man, didn't suffer any injuries.
