NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The local area is set to experience a few more days of isolated showers and thunderstorms before clear skies return midweek. A weather system in the upper atmosphere is bringing a chance of storms, which are most likely to hit during the afternoon hours on Monday and Tuesday. Rain chances will be highest in areas north and east of Lake Pontchartrain, including parts of southern Mississippi, where around 40-50% of the region could see rain on Monday, and 30-40% on Tuesday. Temperatures will stay close to normal for this time of year, with daytime highs reaching into the 80s and overnight lows in the 70s. While the rain and storms will die down overnight, residents should be prepared for wet weather during the day. By Wednesday, the weather is expected to make a big shift. As the current storm system moves out, a high-pressure system will move in, bringing much drier air. From Wednesday through Saturday, expect mostly clear skies, no rain, and slightly warmer temperatures. Daytime highs will remain in the 80s, and nighttime lows will dip into the upper 60s and low 70s. With the drop in humidity, the weather will feel more comfortable, especially in the evenings.
