TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office is asking the public to help it identify a deceased jail inmate's next-of-kin. According to a press release from Indiana State Police, an inmate at the Tippecanoe County Jail made the facility's staff aware of a medical emergency unfolding in a cell around 3 p.m. Saturday. When jail staff made it to the cell in question, they found an unresponsive inmate. Medics were called to the scene, and they rendered aid to the inmate. The inmate, however, was ultimately pronounced dead at the jail by the Tippecanoe County Coroner. The coroner's office identified the inmate as 55-year-old Cory L. Williams of Lafayette. The coroner will conduct an autopsy on Williams' body on Monday. Both Indiana State Police and the Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office have reported that no foul play is suspected in Williams' death. Indiana State Police are looking into the incident at the request of the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office. The coroner's office is, however, requesting the public's help in locating Williams' next-of-kin. TCCO is asking those with information regarding the decedent's next-of-kin to call the coroner at (765) 420-7607. As of this article's publication, no additional information on Williams' death had been made available.
