Though this day is generally linked to misfortune, it’s been a long-standing tradition in the inked community to commemorate the occasion with a twist of fate instead — in the form of body art. Tattoo parlors across San Diego County, and all over the nation, offer special deals on any given Friday the 13th. Some can be inked for just $13, others for $31, with other pieces still costing much less than an average day at the shop. For those looking to shake things up this freaky Friday with some permanent body art, here are some tattoo parlors in San Diego County that are offering superstitious deals for the day: San Diego International Film Festival lineup released *Editor's note: Prices vary based on each tattoo parlor, meaning not all shops offer $13 deals. Locally Famous Tattoo: This San Marcos tattoo shop, located at 744 Grand Ave. Suite 101, is offering up flash deals in three different sizes with deal prices ranging between $40 and $120 depending on the piece. There will also be a taco truck on site and music to be enjoyed. Their doors open a 11 a.m. with Friday the 13th tattoos being inked on a first come, first served basis. Eden Tattoo Gallery: Located at 3001 Madison Ave. in North Park, this shop is offering an array of Friday the 13th specials -- even some that start at just $13! Other flash deal pieces will be going for $31, $66 and $100. On a first come, first served basis, artists at this gallery will be inking arms and more from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lions Den Tattoo: This spot was named "San Diego best tattoo shop in 2023," according to the Union-Tribune Readers Poll. Check it out for yourself this Friday while choosing from over 250 flash sale designs. All eligible tattoos will be penned on arms, legs and backs only, per the shop's offering. Prices will range between $100 and $200 for the day. This Lemon Grove parlor is located at 7628 Broadway. Full Circle Tattoo: This tattoo collective has two locations: University Heights and South Park. Both will be hosting a Friday the 13th flash sale. Whichever location you choose, it will be arms and legs only for this deal. The shop said the lowest costing design will be a $100 flat. Like the other spots, it will be first come, first served at both locations. The tattooing will start at 10 a.m. and continue "until the darkness settles in." Big Fish Tattoo: This spot will have 10 tattoo artists with 10 original sheets of designs to choose from. Prices range from $80 to $250 with tattoo placement limited to arms and legs only. Doors open at 10 a.m. for this Solana Beach shop, located at 243 N Hwy. 101 Ste. 18. “Be sure to get there early because this event brings the crowds!” the shop warned on social media prior to Friday to the 13th.
