BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Bakersfield Fire Department will hold a ceremony on Friday, Sept. 13, to honor eight firefighters who acted heroically during the 2023 Bakersfield Christmas Parade. The event will take place at 9 a.m. at Station 1, 2101 H St., in Bakersfield. North of the River host free ‘TotalFit Circuit’ preview classes on Sept. 12 On Dec. 7, 2023, a vehicle struck pedestrian at the start of the parade, causing multi-casualty incident. Five off duty Bakersfield City Firefighters and three Kern County Firefighters stepped in to help. The firefighters quick response rendered first aid to individuals injured during the crash.
