Last week’s Chamber Annual Meeting was a celebration of our partners, dedicated board members and excellent professional staff all working seamlessly to advance Park City’s economy and our environmental and cultural sustainability. This past year, our second greatest ski season on record, we surpassed 1,000 members for the first time, celebrated the Olympic news, and launched the Mountainkind brand representing the authentic Park City spirit. Many of the accomplishments we celebrated at the Pendry are as dazzling as bright sun on fresh snow. For example, our Partner Services team was the driving force in adding to our membership while introducing ParkCityChamber.com, a new site serving our partners and residents, and publishing over 50 popular “Small Town Stories” features in the Park Record and online. Other achievements include sold-out events, group insurance for partners, and the WE RIP Housing program, incentivizing 39 beds of employee housing. The board-approved legislative agenda informed our engagement with the Legislature this year, focusing on issues like housing, transportation, labor and employment, economic prosperity, energy and the environment. We generated $80 million in media coverage, hosting 80 writers and 400 travel influencers with the Women in Travel Summit. Businesses across Summit County shared the spotlight as our media work helped spread the Mountainkind message. Meanwhile, our Sustainable Tourism Grants boosted the efforts of 22 local organizations contributing to executing the community-wide Sustainable Tourism Plan. The stunning Mountainkind brand included a redesigned VisitParkCity.com website and an upcoming strategic focus on major markets from Seattle to Miami, LA to Toronto, and Chicago to Phoenix. Our blogs and videos attracted almost 2 million visitors to VisitParkCity.com.Visa Destination Services reports international spending was up 12 percent yearly as of April, coinciding with an 11 percent increase in web visitors from global markets.  Our work in our targeted international markets clearly paid off.Our Group Sales team generated a record $20+ million in revenue for lodging properties — not to mention the trickle-down spending in the community from these corporate groups and meetings. As for managing visitors, we are rolling out a Mobile Visitor Center to complement the newly redesigned Kimball Junction Visitor Information Center, which served more than 10,000 visitors in person and on the phone last year.We were delighted to present the Myles Rademan Spirit of Hospitality Award to Sally Elliott at the meeting. Calling Sally a community activist understates the case. Her 40+ years of service range from the Park City Council, Summit County Council, Chamber Board, Summit County Commission, and with groups like the Mountain Trails Foundation, Recycle Utah, and the Utah Women’s Political Caucus. Sally also founded the Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History promoting historic preservation, a key sustainability objective. How omnipresent is Sally? Two days before the meeting, she helped dedicate the newest public art sculpture honoring our history on the Rail Trail at Bonanza Drive. Of course, the Rail Trail is an invaluable contribution to our quality of life and — you guessed it — Sally was instrumental in creating it. On the very same day, the Friends of Ski Mountain float took home the best overall trophy at the Miner’s Day parade! Finally, we gratefully acknowledged the outstanding service of outgoing Board Chair Rhonda Sideris while welcoming our new board chair, Deer Valley’s Susie English.Naturally, the 2034 Olympics was a much-anticipated topic. We’re proud to be doing our part with a united team and committed, talented partners, to be ready for the unparalleled challenges and opportunities the Games — and our future — will bring.Jennifer Wesselhoff is the president and CEO of the Park City Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau. The post Park City Pulse: Celebrating another great year appeared first on Park Record.
