ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A person and their dog were rescued from a house fire in Phelps, according to the Oaks Corners Fire Department.
Firefighters said they had received numerous calls for the fire around 5:30 p.m. Friday on Rt. 14. As they made their way over to the burning home, it's reported a first responder from Brockport, who happened to be in the area, sprang into action, running into the home to check for anyone inside. Fire officials said the single person inside had no idea the house was on fire.
The first responder was able to safely get the person and the dog out of the home. No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross is assisting the family.
