STATE COLLEGE – Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen both enjoyed 100-yard rushing games Saturday for the second time in their Penn State careers. Allen said there’s more to come. “We can do it for all of our games,” he said. “Are you kidding me? I love to see my brother win. I love to see him get in that zone. It’s back to the basics.” Singleton, the former Gov. Mifflin star, carried 13 times for 119 yards and one touchdown and Allen ran 14 times for 101 yards as the Nittany Lions rallied to beat underdog Bowling Green 34-27 at Beaver Stadium. After West Virginia held him to 20 yards on 10 attempts last week, Allen sprinted for 26 yards on his first carry and posted the fifth 100-yard game of his career. “It felt good,” Allen said. “I wish I could have finished, but it felt good.” Singleton had his second straight 100-yard game and the seventh of his career. He started slowly, but scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 14-yard pass from Drew Allar in the third quarter. “We’ve been doing that in practice,” he said. “We executed it well. Coach K (offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki) made a really good call for that. I found a space and Drew threw me a great ball in a great location.” Immediately after Zakee Wheatley’s interception in the fourth quarter, Singleton looked bottled up before he made a cut to the outside and scored from the 41. It was his third run of at least 40 yards this season after he had none last year and seven two years ago as a freshman. “I was just trying to find a hole,” he said. “It was all clogged up. But the line did a good job and the receivers blocked downfield. I found a hole outside and scored.” In two games so far this season, Singleton has 26 carries for 235 yards, a 9.04 average and two touchdowns. He also has 316 all-purpose yards, including receiving and return yardage. It was the first time since the 2023 regular season finale against Michigan State that both Singleton and Allen topped 100 rushing yards. “It just shows how good we are,” he said. “There’s no downfall if he’s in and I’m out or I’m in and he’s out. We have to keep it going.” Sahaydak delivers: Penn State’s Sander Sahaydak, the former Liberty High star, kicked field goals of 43 and 28 yards in the first half and all four of his PATs. Sahaydak’s 43-yarder in the second quarter was his first since he made one against Rutgers in November 2022. “I think Sander Sahaydak coming out and making some big-time field goals, that was big,” Franklin said. “It’s going to pay dividends for us moving forward.” Injury report: Penn State tight end Andrew Rappleyea, who played a lot in the opener at West Virginia, was out because of an undisclosed injury. He was seen on crutches after the game. Safety KJ Winston, who had a team-high 12 tackles at West Virginia, missed most of the final three quarters with an undisclosed injury. He was on the sideline but without his helmet. Linebacker Ta’Mere Robinson also missed the game after playing last week. He has an undisclosed injury.
