BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Allegany County Friday night.
According to preliminary survey results by the NWS storm survey team, between 9:34 p.m. and 9:50 p.m, an EF-1 tornado traveled for six miles between the Town of Wirt and the Town of Friendship.
The tornado had a maximum path width of 200 yards, maximum wind speeds of 100 mph and left behind extensive tree damage, the NWS said.
Though it traveled for six miles, the National Weather Service says it does not appear the tornado was on the ground the whole time, with a notable gap in damage northeast of County Route 34.
No injuries were reported.
