San Diego County Air Pollution Control District personnel conducted several investigations after complaints of “strong odors” along the Carlsbad and Oceanside coast.
Locating the source of the odor was a challenge for investigators due to its fleeting nature, but they confirmed it was not related to a fire in Escondido at the SDG&E battery facility.
“Our field inspectors are on-site and have documented odors resembling a mix of plastic and asphalt/oil in certain areas but the odors to dissipate quickly,” the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District said in a statement on Friday.
