According to the Granby Fire Department, the focal point of the memorial is a piece of metal that belonged to one of the many FDNY trucks that were destroyed in the attacks. Granby is one of a handful of locations in the world whose memorial is not made of a piece of World Trade Center steel.
The memorial will be located at the Granby Public Safety Complex at 259 East State Street. Massachusetts State Senator Jacob Oliveira, Massachusetts State Representative Mindy Domb, members of the Granby Fire Department, Police Department, and State Fire Marshals Office will be at the unveiling.
The dedication ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the new memorial.
