Road Work sign in downtown Lincoln. (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Sept. 7) Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) this week announced that portions of two streets will temporarily close beginning Monday, September 9. The closures are as follows:  North 17th Street from “S” to “R” streets will be closed to continue work on a Lincoln on the Move street improvement project. This work is scheduled to be completed by Friday, September 13. West South Street from South First to SW Fifth streets will be closed for bridge maintenance. This work is scheduled to be completed by Monday, September 16. The recommended detour is Park Boulevard to West Van Dorn Street to South Folsom Street. Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route and exercise caution around these closures. LTU appreciates the public’s patience during these closures and reminds residents that project dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.  Lincoln on the Move is a six-year, quarter-cent sales tax street investment effort focused on enhancing Lincoln’s street infrastructure that will dedicate an additional $100 million to street projects in Lincoln through 2025.  For more information on street closures, contact Shane Dostal, LTU, at 402-525-7852 or [email protected]. Current information on street closures is available at lincoln.ne.gov/closures or through the Waze mobile app.
