YORK COUNTY, S.C. – An investigation is underway in South Carolina after an inmate died at the York County Detention Center. According to officials, they found a 22-year-old man dead in his cell around 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon. The results of a preliminary investigation show that the inmate died by suicide. He had only been in the detention center since August 27th. Officials have not released his name. This is the second in-custody death at the detention center this year.
