Event Date:  September 7, 2024 - 10:00am Carson City Airport The spirit of flight returns as the Carson City Airport will host this year’s Aviation Festival and Open House today, Saturday, Sept. 7. Each year this event is hosted to help raise awareness about the vital role aviation and aerospace play in the community. The Aviation Festival is free to the public and will be a family-friendly event featuring various airplanes and military exhibits, static displays, aviation education along with youth activities, local vendors, nonprofits, food trucks and live music will entertain throughout the day. Event festivities will start at 10 a.m. with the opening ceremony at 11 a.m. Festivities run until 3 p.m. “We are excited to have this opportunity to invite residents to learn more about their airport and how it is an integral part of the community," said Corey Jenkins, general manager of the Carson City Airport. "The Airport itself not only creates jobs directly, but also supports businesses that use general aviation to support their business, such as ClickBond,LLC.” The Aviation Festival is an important event for the community and helps supports two local aviation nonprofits including the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 403 and the Civil Air Patrol. Carson City Airport’s mission to keep Carson City flying, and they do this by creating a welcoming destination for visitors and business travelers. “The Aviation Festival is an opportunity for a city’s local general aviation airport to let the public through the gates to learn how the airport serves the community," said Robert Grant, event chairman. "I hope everyone will come out and see some airplanes, military vehicles, have some food, and see what the Carson City Airport is all about.” Come for the aviation exhibits, stay for the youth activities, food and live music, and make sure to visit the wide variety of military exhibits, displays and vendors on the tarmac. The first 1,000 youth will be provided a gift for attending the event.
