STACKER — Gasoline remains at its cheapest levels for this time of year since 2021 and could dip even lower this fall as demand has been soft, production high, and the price of oil remains low. "There are now 10 states with gasoline averages below $3 a gallon, which means thousands of retail outlets east of the Rockies are selling gas at similarly low prices," AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said in a statement Thursday. The hurricane season that was forecast by meteorologists to be above normal has yet to materialize this summer, sparing drivers the impacts on gas production. Conflict in the Middle East has yet to translate into higher oil costs. Now, analysts believe it isn't out of the question that drivers may see $3 per gallon gas by the end of 2024.
