BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPOUD) — Port Allen High School and Brusly High School are only separated by five miles, so the tension is always high when these two teams meet. Week one of the 2024 season was no different, with a hard-fought game from the first whistle, all the way to the last on Friday, Sept. 6. Patrick Gales flashed some big runs for the Panthers, but penalties were keeping them from capitalizing on points. In the second quarter, the game was tied 0-0, Panthers were knocking on the door but fumbled and came up empty-handed. That was the theme of the game, hard-fought defense until the clock hit zero. Brusly was able to find the endzone in the second half and that was all the points they needed to knock off Port Allen in week one, winning 7-0.
