Hawaii's weather is influenced by high-pressure systems, one to the northeast and one to the northwest of the islands. Between these highs, a low-pressure system is located about 700 miles north-northeast of Honolulu. The high-pressure systems are causing light to moderate trade winds across the islands, though the low-pressure system has weakened the high in between. On Saturday, trade winds are expected to increase slightly as a strong weather disturbance moves southeast, pushing the low-pressure system away and allowing the high-pressure system to come closer. A new low-pressure system is expected to develop about 900 miles north-northeast of Hawaii over the weekend. As this new low moves west and then southwest from late Sunday through Wednesday, the trade winds will weaken, leading to light and variable winds. By Thursday, high pressure to the northeast should strengthen the trade winds. Most showers will be confined to windward and mountain areas until Saturday. As winds become lighter and more variable later in the weekend and into next week, expect mostly clear nights and mornings with warm afternoons. There might be more clouds and isolated showers in the interior and mauka areas. Overall, rainfall will remain low for most of next week due to stable conditions.
