(KRON) -- The family of a man killed over a year ago in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood is frustrated the prime suspect remains on the run. Now, they are seeking justice by filing a civil lawsuit. Woman who allegedly left racist items outside dog walker’s home wanted by SFPD Los Angeles insurance executive Ryan Pincus came to San Francisco for business around a year ago in August. On the night of Aug. 3rd, after having dinner with friends at the House of Prime Rib, family members say Pincus began walking back to his hotel, the Marriott Marquis at 4th and Mission. He never made it. "It's the worst. I mean, no parent wants to ever get that call," Steven Pincus, the victim’s father, told KRON4. "It's been over a year. It's very frustrating. We'd like to see this guy punished for his crimes, but so far, they can't locate him." Ryan’s father says that on his walk to his hotel, his son was confronted by an on-duty security guard at the Hotel Bijou at Mason and Eddy Streets. Minutes later, attorneys allege the security guard shot and killed Pincus. The San Francisco Police Department confirmed they have identified a person of interest but don’t know his whereabouts. Now, the family is seeking a different road to justice. They’ve filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the security company that employed the alleged gunman for negligent hiring and supervision. "We think that this security guard should not have been carrying a gun, that the security company should have been adequately supervising this employee to make sure that he wasn't using a gun on unsuspecting passersby," the family's attorney, Blair Kittle, told KRON4. Kittle says by filing this suit, they hope they can get access to the security video that shows the shooting. "We're looking to see what we can learn, both from the defendant as well as other eyewitnesses on the scene, but we think that the civil lawsuit is going to help us get those so we can get some measure of closure and justice for the family," Kittle said. The security firm won't comment on pending litigation upon the publishing of this report.
