KIHEI, Hawaii (KHON2) -- A car crash Saturday night claimed the life of a 64-year-old woman in Kihei. Get Hawaii's latest morning news delivered to your inbox, sign up for News 2 You Maui police said their preliminary investigation shows that the woman was on a sidewalk on Keala Place when a car turned right out of a parking lot, drove over the curb, onto the sidewalk and into the woman, just before 7:30 p.m. The driver did not stop to render aid and instead drove northbound away from the scene. The woman, known to frequent the Kihei area, was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center with critical life-threatening injuries. She later died from her injuries.
