BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — The question of what can be done to prevent school shootings has risen to the forefront again in light of the fatal shooting at a Georgia high school this week. People often talk about the police response, or preventative measures schools can take to protect themselves. But most parents in the United States say there is another thing they want. A new survey commissioned by Eagle Eye Networks revealed that 96% of parents want schools to share their camera feeds with police in emergency situations. 56% of the survey respondents want this to be federally mandated, and about 80% believe this would save lives. What's further, about 86% of parents would feel safer if live video could be connected with a 911 dispatcher. This seems to be supported universally, as 90% of people said they supported tax dollars being put to enabling live video sharing at K-12 public schools. Also, more than 90% of people in each of the two major political parties said that this should be done. If there is one thing everyone can agree on, it's that enough is enough, and we need to protect our kids. 1,034 parents of K-12 students in the U.S. were surveyed between May 26 and June 5, 2024 as part of this study. The survey was commissioned by Eagle Eye and conducted by a market research firm called Propeller Insights. Eagle Eye is the manufacturer of 911 Camera Sharing, which gives emergency communications centers instant access to security camera feeds during an emergency. The company received a 2024 Campus Safety BEST Award for video/CCTV surveillance software. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. Subscribe Now Today's Top Stories SIGN UP NOW
