MINOT, ND (KXNET) — On Friday, people were out rucking for a very special cause, and if you don't know, rucking is walking a long distance while carrying a heavy backpack, with its origins rooted in military training. Retired military members Chris Greek and Nick Gray helped put on the Patriot Ruck March Friday, Sept. 6 in Minot. It started at the YMCA, going down to Trestle Valley and back. Marchers were able to choose if they wanted to wear a backpack, and how much weight they wanted inside. Organizers say the march may have been small but… "You know what, it doesn't matter. Everybody is here for a reason, and that reason is very, very good, not only for our community but for our country," said Chris Greek, a retired military member who was the Chief Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force. Swirling federal investigations test New York City mayor’s ability to govern Different organizations for veterans were also outside the YMCA, making it easy to check out the resources they have available. There were about 15 people who were marching, but to make the whole event happen, there were about 50 in all. Everyone knew exactly why they were there. "I want to put a plug out there for those individuals that have family members that had bad things happen to them on that day, and it means a lot to me, and it means a lot to a lot of veterans out there, and we want to keep on remembering those days when that event, when that horrific event happened," said Greek. Thank you to all the first responders. The marchers today were walking to pay tribute to the September 11th attacks from 2001. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
