SCREVEN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - The Screven County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) is asking residents to be aware of a scam that was reported to them Sunday. In a Facebook post, SCSO said scammers are calling individuals claiming to be from the sheriff’s office or the clerk's office, telling those on the other end of the line they missed a court date and owe money immediately. Man shot multiple times in Statesboro on Saturday Sheriff Mike Kile stated in the post, "I want to make it clear that neither the sheriff's office nor the clerk's office will ever contact you in this manner. If you receive such a call, do not provide any personal information or payment. Instead, please report it to our office immediately." Kile continued, "Your safety and trust are our top priorities."
