(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — On Friday, July 26, more than 30 new members of law enforcement graduated from the El Paso County Regional Training Academy at a ceremony in Colorado Springs. At the ceremony, El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal administered the oath of office to 30 POST Certified El Paso County Deputies, two Teller County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, one Fremont County Sheriff's Office Deputy and one Fairplay Police Department Officer during the 24-1 Graduation Ceremony at Trace Church in Colorado Springs. The 33 upstanding new deputies are the fourth class to graduate from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy with a 24-week POST certification requirement since taking office in January 2023. “Today’s graduation is a reason to celebrate in our Office and across our communities,” said El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy continues to grow as we welcome established (and new) partners across the Pikes Peak region. I thank Sheriff Mikesell, Sheriff Cooper, and Chief Worley for entrusting my Office to prepare and train their next generation of peacekeepers. These strong, collaborative partnerships ensure well-trained, well-prepared members of law enforcement serve citizens across Colorado. No matter how big or small, rural or metropolitan, the community calls home, their recruits will receive exceptional training under my watch.” Courtesy: El Paso County Sheriff's OfficeCourtesy: El Paso County Sheriff's OfficeCourtesy: El Paso County Sheriff's OfficeCourtesy: El Paso County Sheriff's OfficeCourtesy: El Paso County Sheriff's OfficeCourtesy: El Paso County Sheriff's OfficeCourtesy: Office of the Mayor The Regional Training Academy is offered to law enforcement across the state, free of charge. The sheriff said this is a great way for law enforcement agencies in other districts to build relationships, especially between the Sheriff's Office and police force. The next Regional Training Academy POST-certified class will graduate in Fall 2024, with multiple state-wide law enforcement agencies represented.
