AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Texas Education Agency announced the State Board of Education voted to allow some Texas charter schools to open to the public following Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath's recommendation to grant Generation 29 charters. The TEA said pending approval, the following four Generation 29 charter school applicants are slated to begin serving Texas public school students for the 2025-26 school year: Infinite Minds Charter School (Arlington) Pathway Academy (Big Spring) The Texas Girls School (Austin) Unparalleled Preparatory Academy (Manor)  The board vetoed the granting of a charter to Visionary STEM Academy (Terrell), according to the TEA. These contingencies include a review of curriculum alignment to the state standards and clarification of policies, staffing and board bylaws, according to the press release. The TEA said 8% of Texas public school students are served by one of Texas's 179 open-enrollment charter schools across 886 campuses.
