Fourth of July forecast: Prolonged heat wave this week
Jul 04, 2024
Happy Independence Day! Gradual clearing will take place along the coast today with a sunny and warm afternoon at the beaches. Inland areas will be sunny and hot.
If you are heading to the beach today, keep in mind the rip current risk will be HIGH. Be very careful and always swim near lifeguards. If you are ever caught in a rip current, never fight it! You won’t be able to outswim it. Let it take you out, as scary as that may seem, and start swimming parallel to the shore line. Once you are out of the current, swim back to shore.
Tonight will be mild and clear for fireworks. Low clouds will start to move in along the coast, but it should still be fine for viewing.
The EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING for San Diego’s deserts will continue until next Wednesday July 10th. Temperatures will range between 112-121 degrees! We could break records. Needless to say, this is dangerous heat!
An EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING will go into effect for inland valleys and mountains from Friday at 11 am until Saturday night. Temperatures could range between 98-108. We could see some near-record highs there as well. Make sure you take all the proper precautions during this time:
Next week will still be unseasonably hot, continuing the heat wave.
