HONOLULU (KHON2) -- It was a busy day at Oahu's Koko Crater Trail as multiple hikers called for help from the Honolulu Fire Department. Download the free KHON2 app for iOS or Android to stay informed on the latest news The first incident happened just before 7 a.m. when a man in his 60s fell, sustained an injury and was able to get down the trail on his own. Hiker rescued from the Manoa Falls Trail Officials located the hiker at 7:11 a.m., conducted a medical assessment and performed basic life support treatment. The man was safely airlifted to a nearby landing zone and was transferred to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services for care. Firefighters returned to Koko Head four hours later to find a teenage male hiker in distress. The teen was injured after falling near the top of the trail and was unable to continue on his own. Officials prepared a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations. The teen was then airlifted safely to the landing zone and was transferred to the care of Honolulu EMS. In both incidents, all HFD officials were able to conduct operations with no injuries.
