One injured in house fire on Fort Wayne's southeast side

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — One person was taken to the hospital following a house fire on the city's southeast side.
Fort Wayne Fire Department responded at 12:11 p.m. on Thursday to 4006 E Pettit Avenue on a reported structure fire. When crews arrived they saw smoke from a small single-story house, the fire was centralized in one of the bedrooms.
According to a FWFD release, crews found an individual outside with injuries. They were transported to an area hospital.
The fire was under control in less than five minutes. FWFD found no one else inside or any pets. The house suffered heavy fire damage, minor water damage and moderate smoke damage.
It is unknown if the smoke detector was working. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
