BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Three motorists were arrested for driving under the influence and 18 vehicles were seized during last month's DUI and driver's license checkpoint in northwest Bakersfield, according to Bakersfield police. BPD said 898 vehicles were screened during the June 22 checkpoint in the 8600 block of Hageman Road between 6 p.m. and midnight. Eight drivers were detained for field sobriety tests, 10 drivers were cited for driving without a license, five were held for driving with a suspended license, the department said through a news release. Man pleads not guilty in alleged DUI injury crash on Panama Lane In total, 18 vehicles were seized at the checkpoint. Ten of the 18 vehicles were impounded. The remaining eight vehicles were released back to licensed drivers, according to police. Police say you can help keep roadways safe by calling 911 if you see a suspected impaired driver.
