Webster native who served as Cleveland police officer shot and killed

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Webster native who served as a police officer in Cleveland, Ohio was shot and killed Thursday morning.
According to the Cleveland Division of Police, Officer Jamieson Ritter was shot and killed while responding to the report of a man wanted for felonious assault. He was 27 years old. Cleveland's WJW reports that 24-year-old Delawnte Hardy was taken into custody.
Ritter was a graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High School in the Class of 2015. He graduated from Syracuse University in 2019.
He was commissioned as a second lieutenant of the Army National Guard, served in the 134th Field Artillery Regiment of the Ohio Army National Guard, and was deployed to Syria in 2022.
He joined the Cleveland Division of Police in 2020 and continued to serve with the city after his deployment. He was a four-year veteran of the division.
The Greece Police Department posted on X that Ritter was the son of retired GPD Officer Jon Ritter. He retired in 2013. They posted that they are asking for prayers from the community
