BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) — America's oldest Independence Day parade kicked off from the corner of Chestnut and Hope streets at 10:30 a.m. in Bristol. A parade goer in Bristol. (Shaun Towne/ WPRI-TV) The town is hosting its 239th annual Bristol 4th of July Celebration this year. MORE: Where to watch 4th of July fireworks in RI, MA To make way for the historic parade, there will be a number of parking restrictions and road closures in place. Chestnut and Naomi streets along with Sherry Avenue will be closed to traffic starting at 7 a.m. Hope Street and Poppasquash Road will be closed off starting at 8 a.m. The town says there will be large lots open to the public for parking at the corner of Hope and Gooding.
