SULLIVAN’S ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – From a beach cabana to Minions, the SS Minnow, and even the Olympic rings – extravagant golf carts were a highlight of an annual July 4 parade on Sullivan’s Island. The coastal community welcomed the Independence Day holiday with a golf cart and bike parade early Thursday morning. “It’s a wonderful parade! We love it, every year we come out,” said one person who lined up to enjoy the parade. The parade began near Sunrise Presbyterian Church and ended at Sullivan’s Island Elementary School. “I’m seeing a great party, that’s for sure. A lot of good floats and a lot of good energy going on,” said Mark Burns, who has helped design a boat for the parade for several years. “It’s just getting bigger and bigger every year.” Festivities awaited the end of the parade like snow cones, and the Sullivan’s Island Fire Department using its hoses to cool off children. Celebrations on the island will culminate with fireworks at sundown. Those attending should bring their chairs or blankets. The event will include live music.
