WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- DC Water issued a Boil Water Advisory late Wednesday night for the entirety of the District and parts of Northern Virginia due to clarity issues being noted in local water sources. All customers in D.C., the Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery and Regan National Airport are under the advisory. Arlington also issued an advisory for residents County-wide as a precaution. The entirety of the District is under the advisory, as well as parts of Northern Virginia. (Courtesy of DC Water) The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District said that the Washington Aqueduct water supply had elevated levels of turbidity or cloudiness due to increases in algae blooms in the Potomac River. ‘There’s no quitting me’: Virginia school board member sentenced for Jan. 6 riots will not resign The USACE Washington Aqueduct notified DC Water that, due to the increased turbidity in the Dalecarlia Water Treatment Plant, all water treatment operations had to be conducted at the McMillan Treatment Plant. To ensure there was enough water for firefighting activities, however, the Aqueduct resumed pumping water from the Dalecarlia Treatment Plant on Wednesday night despite the elevated levels. "We anticipate the water could have increased turbidity and therefore providing this cautionary boil water advisory," DC Water stated. The advisory went into effect just hours before the National Weather Service's heat advisory, which is set to begin at noon on Thursday, and will remain in effect until follow-up testing confirms that the water is safe for drinking. Customers should: •    Discard any beverages and ice made after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3.•    Run cold water prior to boiling.•    Run cold water for 2 minutes if known sources of lead are present prior to boiling. •    Bring water to a rolling boil for 1 minute and let it cool.•    Store cooled water in a clean, covered container. After boiling water and letting it cool, customers can use the water for: •    Drinking•    Brushing teeth•    Preparing and cooking food•    Washing fruits and vegetables•    Preparing infant formula•    Making ice •    Washing dishes by hand•    Giving water to pets
