CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Looking to try a hands-on activity instead of heading to a fireworks show? Pocahontas State Park will host an instructional archery event during the evening of the Fourth of July. From 6 to 8 p.m. on July 4, instructors on the park's CCC field will teach the basics of archery safety and technique. Attendees will be able to learn a bit about recurve and compound bows and play games designed to sharpen their skills. Attendees must be at east 8 years old to participate, and the fee per participant is $6. Attendees must register in advance at the park office. Guests are asked to bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen and bring chairs or blankets for comfortable seating. To reserve your spot and pay, call 804-796-4255.
