CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Looking to try a hands-on activity instead of heading to a fireworks show? Pocahontas State Park will host an instructional archery event during the evening of the Fourth of July. From 6 to 8 p.m. on July 4, instructors on the park's CCC field will teach the basics of archery safety and technique. Attendees will be able to learn a bit about recurve and compound bows and play games designed to sharpen their skills. Attendees must be at east 8 years old to participate, and the fee per participant is $6. Attendees must register in advance at the park office.
