KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Fire Department has had a number of water rescues Thursday morning amid flash flooding throughout the metro.  According to responders, at least seven people were at a homeless camp off of MLK and Hardesty when sudden water started rushing in. KCFD said that three people needed to be rescued and so far they've recovered two of them but they're still missing one. Woman shot to death in QuikTrip parking lot in Kansas City There are conflicting reports from those who were taken from the water and the fire department about what happened to that third person. The Fire Department says that the third person got out of the water at a different point and is okay. But FOX4 talked to some of the folks who were pulled from the water previously. And they said they're still looking for that individual. So there's at least one person's status that's still to be determined. Responders said the flooding started in some of those typical hot spots, when we do get heavy rain, and water started to spill over into the roads and then the group was swept up in the water.  Typically, the water that runs along the Blue River is about 6 to 7 feet deep. Kansas City Fire said that it reached 22 feet, and that happened very, very quickly. Missouri news: Headlines from St. Louis, Jefferson City and across the Show-Me State Kansas City Fire had swimmers in the water for 30 minutes to an hour while performing search efforts. There was another rescue at Brush Creek at MLK Boulevard and Oak. The man who was in the creek has now been rescued. The man told FOX4 that he was on dry land when the land started to get engulfed in water. He said that the current in the creek was extremely hard to swim in. He was rescued by KCFD and was able to walk away without injuries. This is a developing story, FOX4 will update this story as updates become available.
