A man in San Jose died amid a heat wave in the Bay Area, Mayor Matt Mahan and police said on Wednesday. San Jose police told NBC Bay Area that just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, they responded to a report of a man who was found dead. They added that there were no signs of foul play. San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan released the following statement on X on Wednesday night: “Yesterday, a homeless neighbor lost their life on our streets due to the heat. This was an avoidable tragedy and exactly why we’re moving with urgency to create enough basic, dignified shelter for everyone — it’s not compassionate to leave people suffering in unmanaged, unsheltered and unsafe conditions. We’ll be keeping our cooling centers open late through July 9th — please help spread the word.” San Jose 5 hours ago South Bay residents find ways to stay cool amid heat wave bay area weather Jul 1 Cooling centers, other resources during Bay Area heat wave San Jose police added that the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office is investigating the incident.
