WHITESTOWN, Ind. — Interstate 65 is back open after Whitestown police say a road rage shooting impacted traffic Wednesday afternoon. The Boone County Sherrif's Department originally cited the closure as due to "police activity." Whitestown police have since confirmed that the closure is because of a shooting that started because of road rage. There is one confirmed victim but police did not know the extent of the victim's injuries at this time. Whitestown police warned that delays or closures on I-65 will continue "for the foreseeable future." Commuters were asked to seek another route. 65 closed near Whitestown 65 closed near Whitestown Making Interstate 65 travel even more of a headache was a crash and a vehicle fire near Frankfort that sent emergency crews rushing to the scene. All southbound lanes were closed due to the crash for an extended time. Northbound traffic was also affected at this same spot with one lane closed due to a crash. According to INDOT, the crash was just south of the State Road 28 exit for Frankfort. Video from traffic cameras shows a plume of smoke rising into the sky and traffic jammed bumper to bumper. INDOT said northbound travel has since reopened while southbound travel is no longer completely shut down. Frankfort 65 closures This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
