ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – One man was arrested after fleeing to Puerto Rico in connection to a double murder on North Goodman Street in February. Police say the arrest stemmed from a murder in February that took the lives of 49-year-old Wahid Nazario and 43-year-olld Frank Rosario Vasquez. Two men shot several times and killed on North Goodman Street Major Crimes Investigators say before the incident, both victims were involved in an altercation with a third individual inside King and Queen Cantina on North Goodman Street. Police eventually identified that person as 42-year-old Hector Ramos-Diaz. Police say security threw Ramos-Diaz out of the bar and a short time later asked Nazario and Rosario Vasquez to leave the bar. Investigators believe Nazario and Rosario Vasquez were walking to their vehicle parked on North Goodman Street when Ramos Diaz ambushed them, firing at least 18 gunshots. Both Nazario and Rosario Vasquez were pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide Investigators say Ramos-Diaz fled to Puerto Rico shortly after the murders. United States Marshals Violent Felony Fugitive Task Force traveled to Puerto Rico, and Ramos Diaz was taken into custody on a sealed Monroe County Indictment Warrant March 25. Ramos Diaz refused to waive extradition and the Monroe County District Attorney's officer drafted a Governors warrant which was signed by the governor in June. Ramos Diaz is being transported back to Rochester and is scheduled to be arraigned on July 8 at 1:30 p.m. He has been charged with two counts of Murder in the first and second degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a weapon in the second degree. Police say Ramos-Diaz is originally from Puerto-Rico and lived in Farmington at the time of the murders.
