FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Family, coworkers, and friends gathered in the hallways at Community Regional's Neuro ICU hallway to honor Patrice Sanders, a longtime valley nurse who was being wheeled into surgery to donate her organs.  Patrice Sanders's sister described her as someone who was kind, giving, and always willing to help others.  Click here for more MedWatch Today Click here for Community Medical Center's homepage "She loved well, and was well loved, and is continuing to love others that she doesn't even know," said Paige Sanders, Patrice's sister.  Patrice was a nurse at Valley Children's Hospital for 36 years dedicating her life to helping others.  In June after suffering a stroke, Patrice was rushed to Community but doctors told her family her prognosis would not be good.  "Patrice was really clear in her end-of-life instructions that she did not want to live with disabilities," said Paige. "And so we as a family knew that we needed to honor her wishes." Jacklyn Manzanedo is the senior director of Donation Development with Donor Network West who facilitates organ and tissue donation here in the Central Valley.  "For Community Regional Medical Center to facilitate an honor walk to honor an organ donor is an incredibly special event for both the families and loved ones of the donor, as well as the hospital's staff to honor the patient they've been caring for," said Manzanedo.  For more information on organ donation, or how to become a donor like Patrice, visit donornetworkwest.org.
