ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The winningest coach in Lobo baseball history is now hall of fame bound. On Wednesday, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced its next hall of fame class which includes former UNM skipper, Rich Alday. Alday served as New Mexico's head coach from 1990-2007. During his time with the Lobos, he racked up 515 wins and six 30-win seasons. He was a three-time conference coach of the year — 1992 and 1995 in the WAC and 2000 in the Mountain West. He led the Lobos to a Mountain West regular season title in 2000. He was inducted to the Pima College and Pima Country hall of fame after retiring in 2018. Alday is one of eight members to be inducted into the ABCA Hall of Fame class of 2025. The ceremony will take place on January 3 in Washington DC. Alday passed away in January 2021. He was 71.
