OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Next weekend, athletes from across the U.S. will hit the Oklahoma River for RowFest 2024 at RIVERSPORT OKC.  "It's a massive event for us,” said Mike Knopp, RIVERSPORT’s Executive Director. "This is going to be an amazing thing for Oklahoma City."  LOCAL NEWS: Success of Olympic Trials at RIVERSPORT OKC The nine-day event runs from July 13-21.  "It's the first time ever that USRowing has combined two of their national championships into one, and it's going to be here in Oklahoma City,” said Knopp.  Rowers will compete in both the Youth and Masters National Championships. According to a press release from RIVERSPORT, the categories include: youth, U23, open, and masters divisions, with races spanning 2000-meter and 1000-meter distances as well as fast-paced 500-meter sprints, relay races, indoor competitions, night races, and coastal rowing demonstrations.  "This is yet another way to showcase how we've built one of the premier venues really in the country, in the world,” said Knopp.  You don’t have to grab a paddle to get in on the action. RIVERSPORT is asking for about 50-75 volunteers per day.  “Volunteers are the absolute lifeblood of this organization,” Noah Ramos, Volunteer Coordinator for RIVERSPORT.  LOCAL NEWS: OKC leaders share new details as potential host for 2028 Los Angeles Olympics events The positions range from race operations to athlete hospitality and event set up.
