ABRAMS, Wis. (WFRV) - The Nancy Byng Community Theater in Abrams has a new look after volunteers helped transform the quaint country church into a contemporary theater venue. Organizers say that repainting the former church building was momentous, requiring a group of hardworking volunteers, 30 gallons of paint, a boom lift, and favorable weather. All the elements came together in late June, and the traditional white building transformed into a stunning midnight blue. Country Fest changes name after 37 years, annual Wisconsin music festival set for June 2025 To help cover the project's costs, Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. (ASPI) launched a fundraiser program called Paint and Perform. The group hopes to raise $10,000 and says a generous donor will match the first $1,000 they receive. "Ticket sales alone don't cover the costs of operating a theater," said Bill Koehne, president of the ASPI Board. "That's why we're so thankful to people and businesses that support the arts and enable us to bring great performances to the stage." The Nancy Byng Community Theater has been home to ASPI since 2007. The former St. Louis Catholic Church, built in 1927, has been fully renovated into a community theater venue. Because the white exterior siding was showing its age, the nonprofit theater organization decided to repaint the building's aluminum siding and replace the vinyl siding on the steeple. Mayor: Presidential campaigns have outstanding invoices tied to public safety costs in Green Bay, expect them to get settled "The new paint not only makes the theater look good and establishes our brand, [but] it also lets people know this is a long-term asset to the community. It's not just somebody's short-term hobby," Koehne said. ASPI will present its next show, "Seussical The Musical," in December. Auditions will occur at the theater on August 27 and 28 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
