ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. – Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputies have taken a man into custody after he barricaded himself into his RV due to an arrest warrant and suffered a self-inflicting wound to his neck, according to a news release. The release states that on July 3, deputies responded to Peeler Road in an attempt to serve warrants on Steven Borek, who was wanted for six counts of first-degree statutory sex offense and six counts of indecent liberties. The U.S. Marshals Service were also present. The Marshals claim that Borek barricaded himself inside his RV after they arrived on the scene and would not come out. After numerous negotiation attempts and knowledge that Borek had a knife, a decision to enter the RV was made. After several officials entered the RV, Borek was found on the floor with a self inflicted wound to his neck, as said in the release. Borek was transported to a hospital for treatment. He was not injured due to the forced entry and no officers involved were injured.
