GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD)-- Thousands of people will fill the streets of Georgetown County on Thursday wearing their best red, white, and blue, but before July 4 celebrations kick off, officials are reminding people of a few safety tips.  Celebrations are underway in Georgetown from Pawleys Island to downtown Georgetown at the Kaminski house. “So tomorrow we have the Choral Society here at 7 p.m. It is their 28th year here on the property. They will sing everything from patriotic songs to pop music, beach music, and bluegrass. We’re so excited to welcome them back,” said Streater Mitchum, the executive director at the Kaminski House Museum. While visiting the Kaminski house, guests are welcome to bring refreshments, blankets, and chairs to watch the choir sing and prepare for the fireworks show later in the evening. However, personal fireworks are prohibited. On Pawleys Island, the Marshwalk Festival will host a boat parade. “It will start at 5:30 outside the front house in Garden City. They’re blocking the marsh area about 20 to 30 minutes after it starts. We will probably have 100 boats or more lined up decorated through parading and showing patriotism to the USA on July 4,” said Al Hitchcock, the owner and partner of Drunken Jackson. The night will finish with a fireworks show on the pier at Murrells Inlet at 10 p.m., with a long day of celebrations planned. Officials are reminding everyone to have fun but stay safe. “Use common sense. Don’t be afraid to say something if it seems like a bad idea. If you see something, say something. I don’t care what time of the morning it is. I don’t care what time of the night it is. If you’re to the point that you think you shouldn’t drive, you better call my fire department cell. I will come to get you, no questions asked,” said Bill Collins, a fire marshal at Midway Fire Rescue.
