Jul 03, 2024
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Time is critical when it comes to a stroke.
In June, when seconds counted, the Prisma Health Richland Stroke team was there for their 99-year-old patient, Hazel Presnell, who suffered a stroke. The team administered fast treatment and a clot-busting drug, putting her on the road to recovery.
The patient is now doing well just in time for her to celebrate her 100th birthday on July 1st.
On Sunday, her assisted living facility hosted a party to celebrate.
The patient’s physician, Dr. Souvik Sen, the lead neurologist for her care team, attended the party– full of great music.
Hazel, wearing a birthday crown, was surprised with a card, gifts, and cake!
Hazel’s 100th birthday celebration was held at Merrill Gardens Assisted Living Facility on Gregg Street.
Prisma Health Richland Hospital is recognized by The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association as a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
