HONOLULU (KHON2) -- High pressure to the north of Hawaii will continue to drive trade winds throughout the week, gradually easing slightly by the weekend. A band of showers is moving from east to west over Oahu within the trade wind pattern. These showers are expected to bring light rain amounts through this evening as they progress westward across the island chain. Once this band of clouds and showers clears the area, drier air will move in, leading to more stable conditions. Over the next week, the trade winds will continue to bring occasional clouds and showers, mainly favoring windward and mauka areas during overnight and early morning hours. Leeward regions should experience mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, although afternoon cloud build-ups are possible, particularly near leeward Haleakala and the Big Island. Stable weather conditions are expected through the end of next week, with no significant rainfall anticipated.
