NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — North Kingstown police officers rescued a woman from her burning home Tuesday afternoon, according to the town's fire chief. Chief Scott Kettelle told 12 News firefighters were called to Fletcher Road around 3:30 p.m. to investigate reports of an illegal burn. Kettelle said the officers arrived at the home first and discovered the garage was fully engulfed in flames. The officers were able to rescue the woman, who is wheelchair bound, from the residence, according to Kettelle. She was brought to South County Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns. No one else was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Close Thanks for signing up!
