CENTRAL, La. (BRPROUD) — In November 2023, 50-year-old, Charles Lepisto died from blunt force trauma in a car crash, according to Central Police Department.
The accused driver Dakota Naquin reportedly caused an accident on Joor Road and faces charges of reckless operation of a vehicle and negligent homicide.
Investigators told BRProud Naquin was going over 80 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour speed limit zone. He crossed the center of the road, which caused the head-on collision.
Chief Roger Corcoran said Naquin didn't comment about his actions when he turned himself in.
"We find people looking at Facebook, reading their phone or texting while they're driving," said Corcoran. "We're writing a lot of tickets out here in excess of 30 miles an hour of the speed limit and we ask them to slow down, don't be in such a hurry."
