Burlington Airport to receive over $1.5 million as part of “Project NexT”

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - The Northern Border Regional Commission has announced that 3.6 million will be awarded to three projects as part of the “Timber for Transit” program, one of those projects taking place at the Burlington Airport.The Burlington Airport will receive more than $1.5 million for “Project nexT”, which sets out to replace a new concourse, four new aircraft gates, four new passenger boarding bridges, create new passenger circulation, and hold room space. “We are proud to make mass timber a central feature of Project NexT, the largest initiative in airport history utilizing mass timber, geothermal energy, and solar power to heat, cool, and operate the new terminal. Our commitment to environmental stewardship is exemplified by this project and supported by this invaluable partnership with the NBRC and this new grant.
