ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Wind picks up out of the southwest going into today, bringing the return of heat and humidity. Dew points go up and temperatures run toward the upper 80s. A long cold front extending across the United States will approach Wednesday night, bringing rain and thunderstorms. Expect this activity after 6 p.m. We've got a nice Fourth of July ahead with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Clouds are around, but only an isolated shower or storm possible. pic.twitter.com/j2g2OKbyRz— James Gilbert (@JamesGilbertWX) July 2, 2024 In a perfect world, this boundary fizzles out and we are clear going into Independence Day Thursday. In the real world, some lingering moisture could last into the afternoon on July 4, opening the door for some widely scattered showers.  The next storm system showing up on both the European and American models is a weak low pivoting into the Great Lakes Friday. This disorganized system will likely lead to scattered showers around the region through Saturday, but it's tough to tell how much impact it will have.
