FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A $25,000 grant has been awarded to the Foundation for Fresno Unified Schools to explore students' mental health and support them, officials announced on Monday. Officials say the grant was awarded from Community Health Systems and will be used to explore student mental health needs with an emphasis on engaging students in the process. A portion of the Community Health Systems grant will be used to analyze students' mental health resources and access points throughout Fresno Unified in collaboration with the DoSomething Strategic, officials say. The analysis will involve extensive student participation through focus groups and a student advisory committee. Interim Superintendent Misty Her says this analysis will help district officials to support students. “I look forward to seeing the results of this analysis of our students’ mental health needs, made possible by the Community Health Systems grant. It will guide and inform our efforts to better support our students,” Her said.
